Endodontics

What is endodontics?

Endodontics is a procedure for cleaning the dental canal, which is performed in cases when the soft tissues of the tooth (pulp (nerve and blood vessels in the dental canal)) have been damaged due to various tooth defects. In the soft tissues of the tooth, an inflammatory process occurs, which in the initial (acute) stage causes severe, sharp toothache, but as the inflammatory process continues, it turns into a chronic form. The patient may no longer experience severe pain, but the infection continues to spread deeper into the root canal of the tooth, also affecting the jaw. An endodontic procedure is performed to clean the infected canal canal. The procedure is performed if the tooth is affected by deep caries, severe tooth erosion or wear (abrasion), as well as if the tooth is injured and the soft tissue of the tooth is damaged as a result.

Procedure:

  • The dentist removes the carious masses and creates access to the dental canal.
  • The dental canal is treated and expanded with special dental instruments.
  • The walls of the dental canal are chemically treated to kill bacteria and remove damaged tooth tissue.
  • The further course of the procedure depends on the degree of the inflammatory process
